7th Dusky Challenge


5th and 6th February 2022

Venue: All areas from Goalen Head to the southernmost point of Disaster Bay.

Cost: $30.  Entree Fees must paid prior to or at the briefing. Juniors under 16 are free.

Juniors are eligible for senior prizes only if the adult fee is paid.  Juniors paying the adult fee are then excluded from Junior prizes.

Species: Dusky Flathead – Catch and Release, photographed on a DPI brag mat – compulsory

Briefing:  Friday Friday 4th 2022, MBGLAC Clubrooms at Spencer Park Merimbula, . Doors open at 4.30pm.

This fishing competition is open to all anglers holding a current NSW Fishing Licence or are exempt from holding a licence.

In all cases the decision of the tournament committee is final, and no correspondence can or will be entered into.

All anglers participating in this event do so at their own risk and each angler agrees to indemnify and keep indemnified the Merimbula Big Game and Lakes Angling Club Inc. and its members from all liability however so arisen in accordance with this event.

Fishing Times

Fishing is allowed between 5.30am and 8pm on Saturday 5th Feb, 2022, and between 5.30am and 2.30pm on Sunday, 6th of February, 2022.

Anglers may only fish between these times on each day of the competition. Night fishing is not allowed. Fish caught outside these hours and after dark will not be accepted.

All capture record sheets must be at the
clubhouse, fully completed, no later than
3.00pm on Sunday 6th February.

Fishing Methods

Fish may be caught by lure or bait. Circle Hooks must be used at all times when bait fishing.

Official Measuring Station

Station The MBGLAC clubrooms are the official fish measurement station. All competitors must have entered their fish lengths, returned their token and have photographs available by 3.00pm on Sunday to be eligible for prizes.

Fish Measurement

Prizes are based on the length of the flathead measured from the tip of the nose to the end of the tail and photographed on an official DPI brag mat & tape measure (Available at the Club $10).

Each photo must also include the token that will be provided at registration. And where possible, the photo must also show the lure or circle hook in situ.

The photo shall be presented by entrants from their Mobile Phone or I Pad as a JPEG image. Photos presented without a token showing will not be accepted.

Attendance at the Challenge Briefing

Challenge briefing will be held on Friday, 4th February, 2022, at the clubrooms.
Attendance at the Challenge briefing is required by all adult entrants, unless prior arrangements have been made to obtain event rules and capture token.

Junior entrants will also receive a token.
It is essential that all senior and junior entrants receive their numbered token and display their token in photographs of captured fish.


The Weight Masters will adjudicate off the digital photo image provided. The Weight Masters adjudication will be final. In the event of a tie the first fish caught will be the winner (as per time of photograph).

Fishing Etiquette

Entrants must respect the space of other boats whilst fishing. Skippers are requested to keep at a distance of 30 metres unless invited closer. Boats in disregard of this requirement may face disqualification from the event.


The presentation will be held at the MBGLAC clubrooms at Spencer Park at 4.00pm on Sunday 6th February 2022
There will be a Lucky Angler Mystery Door Prize.

Anglers must be present to claim their
mystery door prize.

Additional prizes may be awarded at the
discretion of the tournament committee
